MHNO weighs in on Black Lives Matter movement

The Board of the Munjoy Hill Neighborhood Organization recently added its voice on this important topic:

The efforts of the Black Lives Matter movement and the devastating effects of the coronavirus pandemic have made systems of racial disparity, oppression, and injustice unmistakably visible. The Munjoy Hill Neighborhood Organization wishes to add its voice to others in opposition to these violent and oppressive forces that devalue and harm people of color.

The MHNO strives to make Munjoy Hill a safe, inclusive, and welcoming neighborhood for all residents. As the pandemic struck our city, the MHNO organized volunteers to grow produce and we worked with the Root Cellar to create a weekly emergency food pantry at Munjoy South, providing locally grown produce, eggs, milk, and pantry staples to neighbors in need. We strive to continue these and other efforts to address inequalities and bring neighbors together, safely.

The MHNO is committed to working on active anti-racism efforts to ensure an inclusive, safe, and community-oriented future for all Munjoy Hill residents. We stand behind our mission to serve our neighbors by holding community events, advocating for our neighbors within city government, collaborating with other organizations and leaders in the community, and facilitating communication on community issues. Our doors are open (virtually), and we welcome feedback and participation from all residents and business owners on Munjoy Hill. Let’s build an anti-racist future together.
